Olympique Marseille chairman Pablo Longoria hits out at reports constantly linking the club with potential transfer of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo..

Olympique Marseille chairman Pablo Longoria has angrily refuted at local French media’s fake rumours which continues to allege that the club wants sign Manchester United's legendary Portuguese international forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Longoria and other members of the Marseille management have no plans to sign Cristiano Ronaldo at all, and the Portuguese superstar himself had never contacted Marseille at all.

Romano added that Longoria was furious that he and the team behind the scenes, has always been committed to buying the best players the club is capable of, but the media has been creating fake attention-seeking news  and that his efforts for the best interests of Olympique Marseille had been ignored.

Longoria also said that although he and all his colleagues in the club respect and appreciate Ronaldo very much, the rumours about Marseille wanting to sign him are indeed contrary to their plan.

In fact, this is not the first time that Longoria has refuted the rumours that Marseille intends to sign the established Premier League title-winning player.

Last weekend, when questioned about the same rumour by French television station Canal+’s reporters during the pre-match press conference of Marseille’s Ligue 1 match against Nantes, Longoria had already denied the matter.

"Cristiano Ronaldo? It's time-consuming to go into the details for something that's non-existent and doesn't add anything to it. In life, you must always be concrete about things. People should really only speak when there are specific concrete evidences," Longoria told the reporters.

Similarly, another Marseille executive, who did not want to be named, also responded with a "fake story written by journalists purely for the attention of grabbing readers’ eyeballs" when asked about it earlier.

Since last month, rumours alleging Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United has been spread all over the world, and there have been endless rumours about which club the 37-year-old star will end up to be. However, all the clubs listed in the reports have since denied such fake rumour.
