Prosecutors in Milan, Italy, have issued an arrest warrant for Brazilian player Robinho in connection with rape and have asked for Robinho to be extradited to Italy, according to Spanish media reports .

The 38 -year-old Robinho has played for Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester City and other famous teams. In 2013 , Robinho and a group of friends sexually assaulted a woman at a local nightclub in Milan, and was eventually sentenced to nine years in prison by the Italian Supreme Court. However, currently in Brazil, Robinho has not yet started serving his sentence.

On January 19 this year , the Italian Supreme Court rejected the lawyer's appeal and upheld the original verdict. Robinho's defense attorneys said the woman had consensual sex with Robinho.

But a recorded phone chat played a key role in the sentencing. "The woman was drunk and she didn't understand what was going on, it was hilarious," Robinho said by phone.

At present, the prosecutor has submitted a request to the Italian judicial department to arrest Robinho and his friend Ricardo Falco, so the Ministry of Justice must send the arrest warrant to the relevant Brazilian departments. But Robinho is unlikely to be extradited to Italy, because Brazil and Italy have no extradition treaty. But an international arrest warrant has been issued, and Robinho will be arrested if he arrives in any country with which Italy has an extradition treaty.
