Regarding the European Super League, MU owners do not want to apologize
5/11/2021, 10:44 JAKARTA - The owner of Manchester United (MU) AvramGlaze refused to apologize to supporters for the club's involvement in the European Super League which failed to materialize. Avram is a member of the Glazer family from the United States which owns United.
The ownership of Glazer has been protested by fans since they bought the club in 2005 and has recently intensified since the controversy over the European Super League.
"Is this an opportunity for you to apologize perhaps?" asked a reporter to Glazer who he ignored. The reporter then asked if the family would consider selling the club if he wanted to respond to fans, but he refused to answer.
United co-chairman Joel Galzer issued a statement on April 21 apologizing to fans and admitting the owner did not respect a tradition that is deeply rooted in English football. Since the announcement of the European Super League, United supporters have staged a series of protests including breaking into the club's training camp at Carrington, then occupying Old Trafford and forcing the game against Liverpool to be postponed, as well as calls for a boycott of club sponsorship.
"We regret the disruption to the team and the actions that have endangered the supporters, staff and police," said MU after the postponement of the match against Liverpool.
Despite the fact that Avram sold £ 70 million worth of shares in March before the European Super League controversy, sources told ESPN Wednesday that the Glazers were shaken from the protests and likely won't sell United. The Glazers family also owns the typical Ameria NFL football club, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
