Roma defeat, Real Betis win 2-1

Luis Enrique 's final goal secured Spain's first European win over Roma in 21 games.

The defeat also put Roma 's chances of qualifying for the knockout rounds into serious doubt. The capital club are currently third in Group C with three points , one behind Ludogorets and six behind Real Betis .

The evening started in the miserable atmosphere of the capital club. Already without Rick Karlsdorp , fellow right - back Zeki Celick injured his knee less than five minutes into the incident and was replaced by Leonardo Spinazzola .

In the 20th minute, Frenchman Nabil Fekir almost opened the scoring, but his shot was blocked by the near post. Just moments later, the former Lyon man was suspended with a muscle injury and was replaced by Luis Enrique .

short lead

Star player Paulo Dybala sent off Claudio Bravo the wrong way to secure his sixth goal of the season in all competitions.

However, their lead was short-lived. Midfielder Guido Rodriguez equalised after a laser shot from outside the box hit the net just before half-time.

After the break, Giallorossi wobbled. Dybala and Brian Cristante both had good scoring chances but failed to convert.

Real Betis striker Luis Enrique changed the script as a draw was sealed , scoring a late header to give Manuel Pellegrini 's side a win victory .
