Sadio Mane Reveals He Had A Dead Contract To Defend Senegal
7/10/2022, 18:04MUENCHEN -- Bayern Munich's new signing, Sadio Mane, has revealed that he is willing to risk his life to defend Senegal. In fact, the former Liverpool star offered to sign a 'dead contract' to do so.
Mane suffered a heavy blow to the head in the Africa Cup of Nations match when Senegal played Cape Verde. But Mane wants to play in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Liverpool asked for the player to be given five days of rest to recover due to the concussion protocol. Senegal's medical staff also asked him not to play.
However, Mane remains determined to compete. He even offered Senegal to make a contract stating that if something happened that endangered his life, it was his personal responsibility. Despite differences of opinion from all parties, Mane did not change his mind and continued to compete.
"I knew I shouldn't have played but I said 'let's have a contract'. It would be my responsibility, I would sign it. If I die they can say it's my fault. It's nobody's fault," said Mane. , quoted from Marca, Saturday (9/7).
Mane revealed, when suffering a concussion, Liverpool had pressured the federation and wrote a letter to FIFA, asking him to rest for five days. But it will keep him out of the quarter-finals. After being prevented by coaches and doctors, Mane then went to the president of the federation, and was able to compete.
Mane very well understands the fear and worry that surrounds his appearance. Mane has therefore been tested on match day and is waiting for the results to determine if he can be on the pitch for the match or not. He was finally able to play for 90 minutes.
"I'm not talking about the contract, but I'm ready to do it. The doctor said: 'Let's do a scan in the morning (before) the game'," explained Mane.
