GENOA - Sampdoria coach Roberto D'Aversa feels sorry for Manolo Gabbiadini following a severe ankle injury against AC Milan on Tuesday (24/8). The Blucerchiati may have to jump into the transfer market because of the injury.

The striker sustained a severe ankle injury and jumped off the pitch, before he ended the night in tears, fearing the worst. "I'm sorry for Manolo," D'Aversa told DAZN , quoted from Football Italia , Tuesday (24/8).

"Tomorrow we evaluate. Hopefully nothing serious because he is an important player. For the transfer market, you have to ask the club," he explained.

The reaction from the players and the first sensation were interpreted as a bad injury for the former Southampton striker, this is something that might change the strategy in the market for Sampdoria.

However D'Aversa was pleased with the team's performance in the 1-0 loss to Milan at the Marassi. "The team had a great game," he said. "Against a great team like Milan. We made a lot, but we didn't convert. One incident punished us, but the show was there," he explained.

"When I joined a team that scored 52 points the previous year, it was natural that I wanted to do better if I had the same squad. However, goals are set by the club based on many situations," explained D'Aversa.
