Serbian veteran Krstic withdraws from Euro 2020 qualifiers due to injury
2023-03-27 16:10Serbia 's national team coach Dragan Stojkovic delivered the bad news today, referring to the 30-year-old midfielder who assisted his teammates in a 2-0 win over Lithuania in their Euro 2024 qualifying opener Filip Kostic suffered an injury and will withdraw from the upcoming game against Montenegro.
Krstic assisted the 34-year-old striker Dusan Tadic to open the scoring in the opening game of the European Cup qualifiers last Saturday, and played a key role in helping the Serbia team win a good start. However, Serbian coach Stojkovic announced today at a press conference before tomorrow's away game against Montenegro that Kostic will leave the team due to a recurrence of injury.
Stojkovic revealed that the veteran suffers from Achilles tendonitis. Although it is a pity and a pity, considering the player's injury , he finally decided to return him to the club for treatment. This also confirms that Krstic will not be able to participate in tomorrow's second round of Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Krstic played a total of 48 games for the national team, including 2 World Cup qualifiers, 3 European Cup qualifiers and 2 World Cups.
Krstic's Serie A Juventus will usher in a busy schedule in April, and it is expected that Krstic will be able to pay for Serie A before recovering from injury. The Serbian veteran has played 38 games in all competitions this season, contributing 3 goals and providing the leading Serie A player with 11 assists.
