ROME -- AS Roma recruited two strikers at once in the transfer market this summer. In addition to recruiting Tammy Abraham from Chelsea, I Giallorossi brought a striker from Uzbekistan, Eldor Shomurudov, from Genoa.

The presence of these two strikers completes the Roma attack line, which was previously occupied by Borja Mayoral. However, of the three players, only Abraham and Shomurodov have featured regularly this season.

In particular, Shomurodov has not missed any of the four matches that AS Roma have played in all competitions and has contributed one goal and one assist at the start of this season.

Of the four games, the 26-year-old striker only appeared once as a starter . Likewise with Abraham's appearance record at the start of this season.

However, unlike Shomurudov, the Chelsea academy dropout was trusted by AS Roma coach, Jose Mourinho, to start three of the last four matches for the Giallorossi and scored one goal and two assists.

The two strikers are predicted to be the new mainstay of the club from the Italian capital in the hunt for victory this season. Shomurodov also feels confident that he can work with Abraham if he is trusted to be a tandem with the English striker.

Even with the belief that the former Rostov striker is related to the possibility for Mourinho to pair him with Abraham on the front lines of AS Roma in the upcoming matches.

''I will continue to give my best, whether it's playing as a starter or a substitute. I keep working hard and it feels good to work with Abraham. I think Mourinho will try to partner us this season,'' Shomurodov told La Gazzetta dello Sports, Tuesday (8/9).

With a reported transfer price of 17.5 million euros, Roma brought in Shomurodov from Genoa. Roma's interest is inseparable from Shomurodov's impressive performance with Il Grifone last season.

In his debut season for Genoa, Shomurodov managed to score eight goals from 31 matches on the Serie A stage. The Uzbekistan national team striker also admitted that he never thought that negotiations for his move to Rome took place so quickly.

Shomurodov also admitted that he was impressed with Mourinho's approach to the I Giallorossi players. ''I couldn't believe it, his move happened so fast. There is no pressure working with Mourinho."

“We all work as a team. My first meeting with him was absolutely amazing. Now, we are like teacher and student. He's a coach who really understands the psychological condition of players,''said Shomurodov.
