Spain international center-back Diego Llorente extends contract with Leeds United..




Leeds United announced on their official website on Friday that the club has extened the contract of Spain international centre-back Diego Llorente.


According to the official statement of Leeds United, Llorente has signed on a further two-year deal with the club, and his contract will now runs until the summer of 2026.


After completing his contract renewal procedures, Llorente said on the Leeds United official website: "This is a beautiful and exciting moment for me."


"It's an opportunity for me to keep helping the club, I've been here for two years and it's been a happy time for me."


"I think I'm a better player now, the Premier League is a difficult league but it's helped me improved and I'm sure I can continue to improve and help my team-mates."

The 29-year-old Llorente was born in Madrid on August 16, 1993. He is 1.86 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but he can also be a right-back or a defensive midfielder.


Llorente joined the Real Madrid youth academy at the age of 8 and completed his Real Madrid first-team debut in June 2013.


In the summer of 2015, Llorente spent a season on-loan with Rayo Vallecano, and then in the summer of 2016 joined Malaga on a season-long loan.


After returning to the club in the summer of 2017, Llorente transferred to Real Sociedad for €11 million in July of the same year. During the three years he played for Los Txuri-Urdin, he always won the praise of many media and pundits with his good offensive and defensive displays, and even became a member of the Spain senior national team.


In September 2020, Llorente joined Leeds United for £18 million.
