MILAN -- AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli has urged the club to let him join SSLazio in the upcoming winter transfer window of 2022. Romagnoli is considered disappointed after his position was eliminated from the Rossoneri main squad.

Romagnoli's contract with Milan will expire at the end of the upcoming 2021/2022 season, with the renewal of the player's contract extension being claimed to not happen.

The reason is that Milan under Stefano Pioli chose to leave Romagnoli on the bench. His role as captain was replaced by Davide Calabria and his position at the heart of the defense was left out by Fikayo Tomori.

Now according to La Repubblica quoted by Football Italia , Monday (6/9), Romagnoli hopes the club can release him in the winter transfer market and the player is eager to join Lazio.

The Aquile, Lazio's nickname, is also looking for a new defender to support the composition of coach Maurizio Sarri's game with a 4-3-3 scheme.

The same source added that the 26-year-old would be very happy to join Lazio as a free agent in the summer of 2022. But it is clear that Milan management will avoid it because they will not get money from the player's departure.

Romagnoli is a loyal Lazio fan. His young football career was also printed from city rivals AS Roma, who is also a figure who idolizes the legendary defender i Biancoceleste, Alessandro Nesta.

Milan signed Romagnoli from AS Roma in 2015 for a fee of 25 million euros after his loan spell with Sampdoria.
