VALLADOLID - Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez expressed his gratitude for Los Rojiblancos after delivering the club from the Spanish capital to win the La Liga title. This expression of gratitude for Suarez is inseparable from the trust that Los Rojiblancos has placed in him.
The 34-year-old striker was released by Barcelona at the start of this season. The Blaugrana management decided to end the partnership with Suarez because the former Liverpool striker was considered old enough and unable to compete to appear at the highest level.
Having reportedly joined Juventus, Suarez finally decided to accept Atletico Madrid's proposal. The Uruguayan striker was brought in without any transfer fees. Los Rojiblancos' decision to host Suarez proved to be the right decision. The striker nicknamed El Pistolero is proven to be able to perform well at the highest level.
In fact, Suarez has become one of the key figures in the success of Atletico Madrid in quenching the thirst for the La Liga title, which has stretched since the 2013/2014 season. Suarez became Atletico Madrid's top scorer on the La Liga stage with a collection of 21 goals. On the other hand, Suarez has proven successful in answering various doubts and criticisms that were addressed to him at the start of this season.
Suarez finally thanked Atletico Madrid, who had given him the opportunity to appear. “Starting this competition with various doubts. They felt that I was no longer able to compete. Then, Atletico opened its doors for me. I'm happy with the way Atletico accepted me. They gave me the opportunity to prove that I can still compete at this level. Thank you Atletico for this trust, '' said Suarez after the match against Real Valladolid to LA Liga Tv as reported by // BBC, Sunday (23/5).
In this match, Suarez again appeared to be the hero of El Atleti's victory. After taking advantage of a passing error from one of Valladolid's players in midfield, Suarez immediately rushed into the penalty box and let go of his left foot. The ball also lodged in the lower right corner of Valladolid's goal.
Suarez's goal in the 67th minute was the last goal in the match and brought Los Rojiblancos to silence Valladolid, 2-1, and ensure the title of La Liga this season.
This is not the first time Suarez has been the solution to the Los Rojiblancos impasse. Previously, in the match against Osasuna, last weekend, Suarez also scored Atletico Madrid's winning goal. '' It's nice to be able to appear in the closing match of the season. My job is to help the team by scoring goals. Atletico Madrid is a big club and we are showing that this season. We are the most consistent team and deserve the title of La Liga this season, '' said Suarez.
