SINGAPORE -- The organizers of the AFF2020 Cup officially released the best young player candidates, Tuesday (28/12). The candidates are six footballers under the age of 21 who are considered to have impressed during the competition which lasted until the semifinals.

Interestingly, Indonesia dominates in the candidates for the best young players to be elected. Because, Indonesia is represented by three players at once in this list.

The first Indonesian player in question was Pratama Arhan. This 20-year-old defender is considered to be one of the best because he managed to help the defense as well as build attacks from the left side.

Arhan recorded dozens of sweeps and intercepts. In addition, Arhan also scored two goals plus two assists to take the Garuda squad to the top party.

Arhan's ability to throw the ball in also deserves thumbs up because it can threaten the opponent's defense. He is predicted to be one of the future impressive players in the Southeast Asia region.

Then, there is Alfaandra Dewangga who is included in the list of candidates. The 20-year-old centre-back is considered skilled in guarding Indonesia's defense from the onslaught of opponents.

Dewangga recorded 25 sweeps, 23 interceptions and four blocks. Not only that, he even recorded four key passes and often became the executor of set pieces.

The third player to be nominated is Witan Sulaeman. His agile movements made Witan record two goals plus three assists during the competition.

A capable vision also made Witan record eight key passes to help the Garuda squad attack. The amazing goal process against Singapore in the first leg of the semifinals also made Witan's name in this competition.

While the other three players are Paulo Gali from Timor Leste, Thanawat Suengchitthawon from Thailand, and Sieng Chanthea from Cambodia.
