LEEDS -- Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott has expressed his gratitude for all the messages and support he has received after suffering a severe ankle injury.

The 18-year-old winger suffered a severe ankle injury after being tackled by Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk in the fourth week of the English Premier League, Monday (19/9) early morning WIB.

Struijk's hard tackle against Elliott occurred when the match at Elland Road Stadium was entering the 60th minute. At that time, Struijk tried to stop the pace of Elliott who was dribbling the ball.

As a result of the tackle, Elliott immediately received treatment from the Liverpool medical team. Not only that, the former Fulham winger also had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Based on preliminary examinations, Elliott suffered a dislocated ankle in his right leg. In fact, Elliot had to be rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

After the incident, various messages and support for Elliott to be able to recover immediately appeared in the world of social media. Elliott finally expressed his gratitude for the support and prayers via uploads on his Instagram account.

According to Leeds Live, Elliott posted the message while he was in an ambulance on his way to the hospital. Not to forget, in his upload, Elliott also wrote the famous slogan from Liverpool, YNWA (You Never Walk Alone).

''Thank you for all the messages. In the middle of the recovery process. YNWA," wrote Elliott on his Instagram account as reported by Leeds Live, Monday (13/9) early morning WIB.

Previously, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp had confirmed that the player, who was on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season, had an ankle dislocation.

In fact, Elliott had to be rushed to the hospital because the Liverpool medical team could not restore Elliott's ankle condition to its original state. "He has an ankle injury."

"I heard that his ankle was dislocated and the medical team couldn't immediately place it into its original position. So, right now, he was in the hospital. I saw the incident and his feet were not where they should be. Therefore, we are quite surprised,'' Klopp told Sky Sports after the match, Monday (13/9).
