Thunder guard Jerome joins Warriors after 8-man trade to Rockets

Good news came today after Oklahoma City Thunder guard Ty Jerome, 25, was fired last week after being included in an eight-man trade and sent to the Houston Rockets. The former Thunder guard signed a training camp contract .

Jerome was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft, then was traded to the Phoenix Suns, and in 2020 through a deal with the Thunder's 37-year-old guard Chris Paul Traded to the Thunder. He spent three seasons in his NBA career, averaging 7.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He shot 39.8 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from 3-point range.

The Rockets sent 25-year-old forward Marquese Chriss, 27-year-old forward Sterling Brown, 29-year-old guards Trey Burke and David W. Nuwaba, in exchange for the Thunder's 21-year-old guard Theo Madden, 25-year-old guard Ty Jerome, 29-year-old forward Maurice Harkless, 31-year-old center Derrick Favors and a A 2025 second-round pick.

Jerome was released by the Rockets immediately after the trade and became a free agent. But Jerome soon found a home.

The Warriors plan to offer Jerome a training camp contract after his termination agreement with the Rockets transitions, according to NBA-famous Sham Charania of The Athletic.

The Warriors also responded by firing 23-year-old guard Mike McConnell and 22-year-old center Trivion Williams to make room for the lineup. Jerome is expected to have the opportunity to compete for the 15th and final spot on the Warriors' 2022-23 NBA roster in the remaining three preseason games.
