Trevoh Chalobah reportedly wants to leave Chelsea in January in search for more gametime..

Renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday that in order to search for more stable gametime, young Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah may likely push for a departure in January.

According to reports, seeing that the Qatar World Cup is approaching, Chalobah wants to use a stable gametime to increase his hopes of being selected for the England national team squad, as such he thought about leaving the club.

Romano added that Chalobah had actually planned to leave the club as early as this summer window. At that time, he asked the club to allow to leave the club in any form be it a loan, a loan with option to buy or a permanent transfer in order to gain more opportunities to play, and Chelsea's new American owner Todd Boehly had initially agreed to it even after the club's late signing of Wesley Fofana, but Boehly suddenly changed his mind at the final hours at the deadline day, making Chalobah, who had already negotiated with AC Milan, missed the chance to leave the club and was forced to stay.

Unexpectedly, after staying at the club, Chalobah was only able to play once when Kalidou Koulibaly was suspended, and the rest of the time he could only be frustrated as he was benched.

Romano also said that although Chalobah wants to leave the club, as he has been a loyal Chelsea fan since he was a child, he had planned to demand that the Blues retain the clause to buy him back even if he does leave, while it was also thought that the defending Serie A champions might reinitiate their plan to sign Chalobah again.

The 23-year-old Chalobah has dual nationalities of Sierra Leone and England. He primarily plays as a central defender but can also play as a defensive midfielder. His brother Nathaniel and himself are both professional players who came through the Chelsea youth academy. Nathaniel is currently playing for the Blues cross-city rivals, Fulham, in the Premier League. Nathaniel played once for England's senior national team in 2018.

Trevor Chalobah made his Chelsea first-team debut last season and has come on as a substitute for the club from time to time. Overall, he made 31 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
