TyC: CONMEBOL requires European clubs to release people in advance to prepare for the World Cup

According to Argentine media TyC Sports, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) requested FIFA President Gianni Infantino to let European clubs release the four South American World Cup teams (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Ecuador) international players in Europe.

The 2022 Qatar World Cup will officially start on November 20, less than a week after the major European leagues enter the hiatus. Due to the tight preparation time, CONMEBOL requires clubs to release some of the called-up internationals in advance, which will help South American footballers adjust their preparations.

In return, CONMEBOL also promised to allow the South American feet who returned early this time to be exempted from the call-up on the international break in March next year, when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will begin.

On the other hand, Infantino, who will seek re-election in March next year, has received a promise of unanimous support from the South American football federations.
