U.S. players poised to emerge from Reina dispute - Rehm

United States defender Tim Rehm said the national team had moved beyond an ugly saga involving Confederation and team-mate Gio Reyna ahead of Friday's CONCACAF Nations League game against Grenada.

U.S. soccer is in turmoil following its return from the World Cup in Qatar, with a bitter row erupting between former coach Greg Berhalter , U.S. midfielder Reyna and his parents.

Berhalter, whose contract expires on December 31 but remains a candidate for re-hire, made comments criticizing Reina's commitment to the team in the Championship, saying he was even considering sending him home .

Rainer's mother, Danielle, said she then notified the federation of an incident in 1992 during which Berhalter admitted he kicked his now-wife in the leg during an altercation.

That prompted an investigation by the U.S. Soccer Association, which said last week that the incident would not prevent the agency from rehiring Berhalter.

Interim head coach Anthony Hudson named Reyna to the 24- man lineup as the Americans seek to reach the CONCACAF National League Final Four.

" What happened to Gio in the past is over, what happened in the World Cup happened in the World Cup and we move on as players, " Rehm told reporters on Tuesday.

" The most important thing for us as the leadership and everybody in the camp is to see that he's working hard, training hard and that he wants to be here. So far, everything has been positive. "

" Let him forget everything that happened "

Rehm, 35 , said he had private conversations with the 20 -year-old Dortmund midfielder but would keep them private " to make him forget what happened " .

He added: " It's important that we all get over this and work together. "

Hudson said Reyna was " part of our plan " in comments provided by the US Soccer Association last week .

" He's a good guy, a top talent and he's judged like any other player, " he said.

The U.S. travels to Grenada on Friday in St. George's and hosts El Salvador on March 27 in Orlando, Florida .
