West Ham confident of signing Lingard in January 2022
9/13/2021, 07:12 JAKARTA -- West Ham United assistant coach Stuart Pearce admits that Jesse Lingard could return to the club in January 2022. The Manchester United attacking midfielder first joined the Hammers on a six-month loan in January and starred in the second half of the Premier League season.
Lingard actually wanted a permanent move, but the two clubs were unable to agree on a transfer fee.
Pearce believes West Ham's door for Lingard is still open. "He missed a chance to leave United in the transfer window," said the coach told talkSPORT West Ham Tribal Football reported on Friday (10/9). "He can reassess his situation in January one more time and decide if there is an opportunity to move clubs. He's got the card."
According to Pearce, the most important thing for Lingard right now is his football. Lingard had a strange game for Man United, but did very well for England.
"The performances for England might have helped him get into the Manchester United team. I think he's too good a player to sit out of that or not play and he's at an age where he needs to play." concluded Pearce.
